It certainly does feel like the start to a new D&D campaign. You begin with a novice, ill-equipped adventurer and dive right into a dungeon/cave/catacomb/etc. In this book you play the role of an average joe human warrior. Before your first choice pops up, you are paired off with a halfling thief. A typical D&D party of adventurers would also include a wizard and priest. But hey, you can't always get what you want. Now, I've read enough of these CYOA books to be aware of their quality.
